CALSTRS COMPLIANCE

• Complete NPBC Certification Form by June 30, 2026.

• Review corporate structure now to satisfy governmental control test.

• Update asset-dedication clause in corporate documents as required..

• Ensure publicly available written employment agreements by January 31, 2027.

• Pro-rate and report multi-school/CMO staff service separately to CalSTRS.

 

GOVERNANCE & TRAINING

• Existing and new administrators are subject to same two hour ethics training requirements as board members.

• Post instructions on websites requesting ethics training records.

 

HEALTH & SAFETY

• Adopt sexual abuse prevention policies.

• Apply misconduct screening procedures to all classified staff hires.

• Mandated reporter definition expands to all employees, volunteers, board, and contractors.

• Consider policy and operational impacts of litigation regarding parent rights regarding student gender identity issues.

• Print LGBTQ+ suicide hotline on student ID cards (grades 7–12).

• Adopt a policy limiting student smartphone use by July 1, 2026.

• Provide at least one accessible gender-neutral bathroom by July 1, 2026.

 

EMPLOYMENT & HR

• Distribute "Know Your Rights" notice to all employees by February 1, 2026.

• Obtain employee emergency contact and detention preferences by March 30, 2026.

• Provide annual PRISM LGBTQ+ cultural competency training for 7–12 staff.

• Implement new pre-hire employment verification process for classified staff.

• Comply with CalSTRS reporting requirements for home office staff by June 30, 2026.

• Review and revise agreements restricting repayment of tuition/training costs.
